It is hard to believe that we are in the last month of 2020. We look back to a year that required more of our togetherness, resilience and adaptation to non-conventional ways of staying connected. We are extremely proud of our global Rotary family for quickly pivoting to adapt to remain engaged and connected in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This holiday season reminds us of the importance of togetherness. It also reminds us to share holiday cheers with our communities near and far. Through our clubs, districts, and Rotary Community Corps, together we extend a warm smile and helping hand to our neighbors with fewer resources. Most of us have had to celebrate holidays away from loved ones and maintain social distance in our daily lives. However, this does not stop us from sharing in holiday cheer through special holiday projects. From providing access to vital medical resources to distributing food packages, serving hot meals, and creating safe shelter for others, our Rotary family brightens this season:
In celebration of Diwali, the Rotary Club of Jammu Mid Town in India decided to combine their celebration with Children Day by visiting children from tenement housing. During the celebration, children were offered sweets, decorative flowers, crackers and other gifts. Learn more about this project. The Philippines were devastated by three typhoons that left thousands homeless in the Bicol region. To spread some joy to those without shelter, 1,183 shelter kits were distributed in November 2020.
With heartfelt gratitude for all your contributions towards improving communities near and far, happy holidays and best wishes for a healthy, happy, and successful new year!
