Collaborate with water, sanitation, and hygiene experts

By the Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG)

WASRAG, the Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group, reminds Rotary members of the vital role hygiene and sanitation play in disease containment.  Good hygiene, especially hand washing, helps contain the spread of viruses like COVID-19 and polio.  WASRAG encourages people to observe the hand washing techniques presented in this short video as a way to help keep themselves and their families safer.

March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month at Rotary. To mark this, WASRAG has several ongoing opportunities offered to clubs:

The WASRAG Fund helps Rotarians undertake more sustainable and better designed water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects through The Rotary Foundation.  It’s an easy way of earning $1,000 USD for your global grant.  All you have to do is email your completed global grant application to WASRAG.  WASRAG’s team of experts will review it and make suggestions on how to improve the project to help ensure it goes through The Rotary Foundation’s approval process as smoothly as possible.  Once the recommendations are considered for the final application, WASRAG will transfer the donated funds directly to the Foundation.

More information on The WASRAG Fund and a link to the application form are available on our website.

Need help in developing your WASH Project?

WASRAG’s Professional Services Team is a group of professionals – Rotary members and friends of Rotary – who have specialized professionally in the many aspects of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services. Rotary members can access this talent pool to resolve issues in implementing sustainable safe water, sanitation and hygiene programs and projects. Our team is constantly evolving to add more areas of expertise. We can help clubs and districts in every aspect of planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects and programs, including highly specialized areas where the challenges are particularly acute.  Even more, our team can help members prepare robust applications for global grants and other requests for funding.

Requests for help should be sent to info@wasrag.org.

People of WASH Annual Photograph and Video Competition

WASRAG is hosting a competition to help us create a digital library of photographs and videos.  The images and videos submitted will be available to all Rotarians to help them promote their WASH projects on social media, websites, flyers and other promotional materials.  We need pictures and videos that capture Rotarians doing what they do so well:  building washrooms, constructing dams, digging wells, encouraging children to wash their hands.  Anything connected with WASH projects is eligible – but action shots please!

To encourage everyone, we are offering cash prizes for the best photos and videos.  And, there are separate categories for amateurs and professionals.  Learn more.
