Since Rotary’s inception, the Avenues of Service have served as the foundation for our relationships with other members and the types of action we take in the world. The concept of vocational service is rooted in the second Object of Rotary, which calls on Rotarians to encourage and foster high ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and leveraging members’ professional skills as an opportunity to serve society.
Vocational service is the essence of Rotary and serves as the foundation from which we serve our communities around the world.
As a Rotarian, how can you put these ideals into action?
The updated Vocational Service in Action handbook can help you gain a better understanding of vocational service and provide you with ideas to practice it through your service activities, in your personal life, and in your career.
Download the handbook and share it with your club members. Get inspired by fellow clubs embodying vocational service in their humanitarian activities. Do you have an inspiring vocational service project? Share your story by writing to us at rotary.service@rotary.org.
